Boarding Policies and Requirements

In order to ensure that all our boarders are safe and happy, please note the following.

Health

We care about each pet that comes to stay with us. We want them to be healthy, and we want to keep them healthy and safe. Happy Dog Acres requires proof that your pup is current on the following vaccinations:

  • 1) Rabies
  • 2) Distemper/parvo combo
  • 3) Bordetella
  • 4) negative fecal exam in the past 3 months

We strongly recommend:
1) canine flu vaccine
2) Flea & Tick preventative
3) Heartworm preventative

For the best protection, they should receive vaccines 2 weeks or more prior to their stay.

If your veterinarian has advised against any of the above, please discuss with us. Proof of vaccination status is required no later than check-in. It can also be sent directly from your veterinarian by fax or email.

Females in Season

Females in season (heat) are not allowed to come to board or for daycare. They must be 3 weeks past the start of their season to attend daycare or boarding.

Safety

Safety of our guests and staff is of the utmost importance to us.  We strive to ensure that all the animals in our care are healthy, but occasionally small injuries do occur. Due to the social nature of dog boarding, there are some inherent risks.  These risks may include, but are not limited to: transfer of communicable diseases or injuries.  These injuries are generally benign, and can usually be managed by our staff.  In some cases veterinary care may be required.

If pet becomes ill, or if a pet’s behavior is endangering itself, humans or other animals, HDA, in it’s sole discretion, may engage the services of a veterinarian.  All attempts will be made to contact owner of the pet, however in the event of an extreme emergency, the well-being of the pet comes first.

If we believe that any dog is likely to bite, you will be called to pick them up immediately. This is for their safety, as well as that of others.

A collar with ID tags with a current phone number is required. An active GPS collar is also strongly advised - even if your pet is microchipped.

Payment & Cancellation Policy

Payment is required prior to your dog’s stay. We accept cash, credit card, or check.
No refunds will be given for cancellations with less than 24 hours notice.
For cancellation with 24 hrs - 7 days notice, we will credit your account for a future stay.

Drop off & Pick up

Pick up is 7-10 am. Drop off is either 7-10 am or 3-7 pm.   From 10 am - 3 pm is reserved for playgroups and training lessons.  (You may request a late pick up, a $19 partial daycare charge will apply.)

Food  & Personal Items

You should bring enough of your dog’s usual food to last for their stay at Happy Dog Acres. It is best for your dog to maintain their usual diet.  We request that you pre-portion your pup's food into zip-top baggies (please not in fold over bags).

If you choose to bring personal items, understand that we will do our best to care for them, but it is possible that they may be damaged or lost during your dog’s stay.

Medication

If your dog needs medication during their stay, please make sure that it is in the original container, and you provide detailed written directions.
Currently, we charge a $5/day fee to administer injectible medications.
